Contemporary Music Performance

Students majoring in Contemporary Music Performance will have the opportunity to choose between two paths of study: Instrumental/Vocal Performance or Songwriting. In each path, students will learn musicianship skills, theoretical concepts and stylistic methods that embody professional performance and songwriting standards. Performance majors will also take courses designed to strengthen aural perception, improvisational intelligence and compositional sensibility. In addition to our highly focused performance and songwriting curriculum, students will attend a variety of music industry-related courses and gain invaluable insight into navigating a professional career in music. Our graduates have worked as session musicians, been hired as instructors at music schools, performed with local and regional artists, hired as worship leaders, recorded and released original music works, played major festival stages, and toured internationally.
