Nathaniel “Than” Medlam, a native of Hutchinson, Kan., has lived and performed in the Oklahoma City area since 1998.  He has served as many different functions in numerous groups – lead vocals, backup vocals, rhythm/lead guitar and trombone in styles ranging from rock, blues, and funk to country, reggae, and small and large-group jazz. He performed in the National Community College All-Star Band for the International Association of Jazz Educators in 1997 and 1998, and played the Montreaux Jazz Festival with the Hutchinson Community College Jazz Band in 1998. He performs regularly with his group, Equilibrium, which won the Oklahoma Woody Award for best jazz in 2009, as well as sings for local party band Urban Addiction.

Than has been at the ACM@UCO since it’s second semester of operation teaching voice and directing bands. He is also a sought-after guitar repair technician, and was a managing technician for Oklahoma guitar-effects company Keeley Electronics for five years prior to beginning his work at ACM. Than has an associate’s degree in Music from Hutchinson Community College and a Bachelor of Music Performance from the University of Central Oklahoma. Than also recently obtained his Master of Jazz Studies and Commercial Music from UCO.
