Cara Dehnert is a(n) lawyer, leadership coach, and arts administrator. Jokingly self-described as the “non-musically talented member of an artistic family”, she’s passionate about using her legal and business expertise to support students, musicians, and creatives, teaching them the critical professional skills needed to be successful in their own artistic endeavors, careers, and lives. She believes that all students have the potential to be the best versions of themselves through learning self-awareness and strategic thinking, and she fervently embraces the tenets of diversity, equity, and inclusion.

In addition to teaching music business courses at ACM@UCO, Cara is a certified Gallup leadership coach as well as a strategic planning/leadership consultant for musicians, industry professionals, music businesses, and other organizations. She served as the former Executive Director of I AM Logan Square (a community-based, interdisciplinary arts organization in Chicago, IL) as well as an attorney with Chicago's Lawyers for the Creative Arts. Cara is a former Associate Professor of Instruction at Columbia College Chicago. She earned a Juris Doctor from the University of Kansas (2007), a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from the University of Oklahoma (2002), and a Master of Arts Management (2010) from Columbia College Chicago.
