The A.A.S in Contemporary Music - Performance programs are designed specifically to provide students with an intensive, yet practical, industry-related education designed to prepare them for a realistic career in the music business. Students receive training in band skills, songwriting, aural skills, stage presentation, business and music industry studies, improvisation, and music production. That training, coupled with music-based projects and extensive rehearsal and gig organization provides them with a detailed and professional understanding of the music industry from concert to contract.
The A.A.S. in Contemporary Music - Production program is designed specifically to provide students with an intensive yet practical, industry-related education designed to prepare student for a realistic career in the music business. Students receive training in keyboard skills, music culture, composition, studio techniques, pre- and post production, business and music industry studies, sequencing and digital audio techniques. That training, coupled with music based projects and extensive recording and professional presentation development provides them with a detailed and professional understanding of the music industry from composition to contract.
The A.A.S. in Contemporary Music Business is designed to provide students with a detailed, practical education focused on contemporary music business. Through realistic and pertinent coursework, students will gain a functional and practical understanding of the contemporary music industry. Students receive instruction in artist development, artist management, music merchandising and retail operations, concert and tour management, music marketing, finance/accounting, and public relations. That training, coupled with music business based projects, internships and professional presentation development provides them with a detailed and professional understanding of the music industry that is based on real world experience.
The ACM@UCO is excited to announce that UCO is offering Contemporary Music as an area of concentration within the Bachelor of Applied Technology (B.A.T.) degree. The Contemporary Music concentration has been designed to be the next logical step for ACM@UCO AAS graduates who wish to earn a bachelor's degree and further focus their studies in contemporary music performance, contemporary music production, sound design, or contemporary music business for performers and producers.
