Degrees & Programs

The Academy of Contemporary Music at the University of Central Oklahoma was created in 2009 in order to fulfill a need for an intensive music program that focused on contemporary music performance, contemporary music production and technologies, and the music business.

The Academy of Contemporary Music at the University of Central Oklahoma gives students specialized instruction by industry leaders, a rigorous music education, and access to all the amenities of a large public university through its place as a department in the University of Central Oklahoma’s College of Fine Arts and Design. The University of Central Oklahoma is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC) and National Association of Schools of Music (NASM).

As an ACM@UCO student, you will join a community of over 400 driven, talented students all working together towards their dream of a career in the music industry. Our graduates have won Grammy awards, toured internationally, started their own businesses, and are already becoming an integral network of professionals in the regional and national music industry. Our focus on transformative learning experiences, internships, industry certifications, performances, and the support of our alumni and faculty create an environment where our students’ careers have already begun by the time that they leave our school. Our alumni have careers as session players, touring musicians, live-sound engineers, recording engineers, publishers, producers, and many other positions in the contemporary music industry.

Undergraduates are eligible for the Bachelor of Applied Technology (B.A.T.), Bachelor of Arts in Arts Entrepreneurship (B.A.), or the Associates in Applied Science (A.A.S.) in Contemporary Music Performance, Contemporary Music Production, or Contemporary Music Business. We also offer minors and double majors for those seeking additional degrees at the University of Central Oklahoma.
